About the role


The Director First Nations Health is responsible for leadership and oversight of the First Nations Health portfolio at Eastern Health.  This new opportunity will have oversight of Cultural Safety at the service, including our relationship and engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community in the Eastern region, and also the clinical care provided to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander patients and the support and professional development of our First Nations employees.  The successful applicant will work closely with all members of our Senior Leadership team to ensure our programs continue to enhance Cultural Safety and meet the needs of the community in the region.

 

The Director First Nations Health is responsible for Eastern Health's Reconciliation Action Plan, Aboriginal Employment Plan and Cultural Safety Plan as well as holding leadership responsibilities for a number of governance committees that monitor health care delivery to First Nations patients at Eastern Health.

About you 


To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

  • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder management with internal and external stakeholders including the ability to develop robust relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and the First Nations Community.

  • Demonstrated leadership capacity to create culturally safe work environments and provide leadership on Cultural Safety at an organisation level.

  • Previous industry experience within the health, community services or state/local government sector.

  • Experience in developing and implementing quality systems.

  • Demonstrated ability in project management, change management and delivery of key projects on time and on budget.

  • Proven track record in analysing, allocating, developing and achieving organisational targets.

  • Demonstrated professional experience in navigating change in large organisations (> 5 years).


Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role.  An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
