About the role

Blackburn Public Surgical Centre is a busy planned surgery unit which has four operating theatres open Monday to Friday. Surgical specialties include orthopaedics (planned and trauma lists), general surgery, ENT, gynaecology, opthamology, vascular and colorectal. The site has a 16-bed ward, with 24/7 nursing staff Monday to Saturday, to care for day procedures and overnight post-operative surgical cases. We pride ourselves on our teamwork at Blackburn. Through fostering close professional relationships, we achieve excellence in the care of our patients throughout their perioperative experience. On-site clinical support and education are available alongside our graduate nurse program.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Minimum 12 months’ experience in anaesthetics and PACA nursing
• Current nursing registration with AHPRA 
• Post-graduate qualifications in perioperative/perianaesthesia nursing (desired but not essential)
• A strong commitment to high quality care
• The ability to work as part of a diverse team

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
