Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Paediatrics

About the role

An opportunity exists on the paediatric ward at Box Hill Hospital for an experienced ANUM. Our busy paediatric unit has 16 beds. We support children from neonatal age to 18 years old. Our presentations range from surgical (general surgery, ENT, plastics and orthopaedics) to medical, including a speciality Eating Disorders unit. We provide a family-centred, holistic model of care and provide an environment where families are encouraged to participate in patient care. We are an innovative, collaborative and friendly team, and support our nurses with learning and teaching opportunities, including the Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing (Paediatrics).

 

You will have extensive paediatric nursing experience, and have had some involvement with leadership responsibilities. In this role you will support the NUM and be responsible for shift coordination and running the department. You will also have a portfolio for which you’ll be responsible. You’ll be cool under pressure, a multi-tasker, and approachable. You will be confident managing the unexpected, an excellent communicator, and a highly skilled clinician who can work autonomously, yet simultaneously be part of a team.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you need to have:

  • Current valid nursing registration with AHPRA
  • Experience and/or a strong interest in paediatric nursing
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
  • A willingness to embrace Eastern Health values and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Excellent patient assessment skills and attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to high quality patient care and consumer engagement
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
