Eastern Health
Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.
Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.
This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.
About the role
An opportunity exists on the paediatric ward at Box Hill Hospital for an experienced ANUM for a parental leave cover position. Our busy paediatric unit has 16 beds. We support children from neonatal age to 18 years old. Our presentations range from surgical (general surgery, ENT, plastics and orthopaedics) to medical, including a specialty eating disorders unit. We provide a family-centred, holistic model of care and foster an environment where families are encouraged to participate in patient care. We are an innovative, collaborative and friendly team, and support our nurses with learning and teaching opportunities, including the Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing (Paediatrics).
You will have extensive paediatric nursing experience and have had some involvement with leadership responsibilities. In this role you will support the NUM and be responsible for shift coordination and running the department. You will also have a portfolio for which you’ll be responsible. You’ll be cool under pressure, a multi-tasker, and approachable. You will be confident managing the unexpected, an excellent communicator, and a highly skilled clinician who can work autonomously, yet simultaneously be part of a team.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current valid nursing registration with AHPRA
- Experience in paediatric nursing
- Experience working in charge/in leadership roles
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
- A willingness to embrace Eastern Health values and contribute to a positive team culture
- Excellent patient assessment skills and attention to detail
- Strong commitment to high quality patient care and consumer engagement
- Strong time management and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
