About the role
Bring your leadership and change management skills to guide our Coding Service through an exciting transformation phase. Drive innovation and explore new technologies such as AI to support modern workflows. Join an experienced, passionate team of professionals. Be supported by Coding Coordinators to inspire high performance and shape outcomes.
This key senior leadership position is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the Classification and Coding Service.
Full-time opportunity with part-time applicant considered. Hybrid working environment offered, based at Box Hill Hospital. Some movement between inner-east sites.
Responsibilities include:
Strategic focus:
- Assess current team structure and work collaboratively to devise a new structure that supports staff and the wider business
- Assess risks and devise workforce plans to ensure continuity of service
- Coach, inspire and encourage Coding team members to excel in their roles
Innovation:
- Assess and implement AI and other technologies to support the coding process
- Facilitate and support digital transformation including the use of the EMR to support coding
- Manage change within the service whilst reducing adverse impact to service delivery
Expertise:
- Provide expert advice to EH staff regarding coding, AR-DRGs, National Funding Model for admitted activity
- Ensure EH complies with all internal and external rules and reporting requirements
- Maintain professional relationships to ensure the Service is compliant and updated on latest initiatives
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent
- Experience in Coding and Casemix data collection and analysis
- Strategic thinker keen to embrace new technologies
- Demonstrated experience managing change in a complex environment
- An open and collaborative approach to working with others
- Ability to build a positive and supportive team culture
- Previous staff management experience
Desirable:
- Experience in digital transformation
- Experience in coding auditing
- Experience in coaching and mentoring
Previous experience in a tertiary hospital setting Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
