About the role

The Capital Accountant is an integral part of the Eastern Health financial accounting team. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register and the financial data that supports the FAR. The Capital Accountant will also track purchase commitments against approved capital expenditure and will assist the Senior Asset and Capital Accountant in providing reports of capital expenditure/fixed assets as required.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • At least 5 years experience in a capital accounting role;
  • Extensive experience with the fixed asset modules of the Oracle ERP;
  • A thorough understanding of what is an asset, an asset class and of what drives depreciation and amortisation rates;
  • A thorough understanding of the Department of Health’s and Department of Treasury and Finance’s policies and procedures related to asset revaluations;
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently on own;
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word
  • A relevant degree

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
