About the role
The Addiction Medicine Clinical Liaison Service is an alcohol and drug specialty hospital liaison consultation service. The main objective of the service is to reduce presentations of clients with AOD issues to emergency departments and the acute hospital wards. The Addiction Medicine Clinical Liaison Service (AMCLS) provides a rapid assessment and coordination of pathways into existing community-based Alcohol & Drug (AOD) services for clients presenting at Eastern Health’s emergency departments (EDs) with Alcohol or other Drug issues. The service also aims to support Emergency Department clinical staff knowledge in the assessment, management and referral pathways for clients with identified AOD issues.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Board
- At least 4 years’ experience working in the AOD/mental health sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of Harm Minimisation and Recovery Frameworks within the context of the alcohol and drug sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing advanced assessments, counselling and the clinical management of alcohol and drug withdrawal.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in co-morbidity assessment, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing and brief intervention sessions.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in an area relevant to the alcohol and drug field.
- Post Graduate qualifications in AOD
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
