About the role
The Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (AIPU) is a 12-bed specialist service providing assessment and treatment for young people aged 13 to 17 years experiencing acute mental health concerns. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Psychologist plays a key role in coordinating the treatment and care of admitted adolescents and their families.
In this position, you will contribute to the delivery of the unit's therapeutic group program, provide responsive, evidence-based psychological interventions, and undertake discipline-specific psychological assessments to support treatment planning and recovery outcomes. You will work collaboratively with young people, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure high-quality, person-centred care.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Full registration or eligibility for full registration as a Psychologist by the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA)
- Hold a Masters or Doctoral coursework qualification in Clinical Psychology that has been approved by the PBA
- Registration endorsement, or eligibility for endorsement in the Approved Area of Practice of Clinical Psychology
- Skills and experience in discipline specific formal assessments of adolescents and their families
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high-quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
