About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Mental Health Learning & Teaching Directorate available for a motivated and recovery-oriented Registered mental health Nurse who is passionate about excellence in clinical standards and patient orientated nursing care in mental health.   

 

This is an entry level position to education and is supported by the Clinical Nurse Educator within the clinical area.  You will be working directly with our graduate nurses in the clinical inpatient setting and providing support to the clinical team to ensure a successful graduate rotation.  You will develop objectives with the clinical staff, working closely with the preceptors and being responsive to the clinical staff to address any developmental issues in a timely way to provide a great learning experience for our novice nurses.  You will role model best practice behaviours and values through your mentoring and supervision, this will ensure staff are developing and delivering excellent and consistent patient centred care in mental health. 

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will: 

  • Hold current nursing registration with AHPRA 

  • Have a post registration qualification relevant to the position (preferably at a Masters level) 

  • Have excellent knowledge of best practice, recovery oriented care and trauma informed care in mental health nursing care 

  • Have the ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational, critical thinking, problem solving and prioritisation skills 

  • Be highly accountable and display a supportive and engaging style 

  • Passion for supporting novice nurses to develop the specialized skillset required to be a mental health nurse 

  • Have expertise in provision of Clinical Supervision and be in receipt of personal Clinical Supervision.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
