About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and recovery‑oriented Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the Mental Health Learning & Teaching Directorate. This entry‑level education role is ideal for an experienced clinician who is passionate about supporting novice nurses as they build confidence and capability in the inpatient mental health setting.
As a Clinical Support Nurse, you will:
- Work directly with novice learners during their time at 1 East
- Provide day‑to‑day clinical support, guidance, and supervision
- Collaborate with preceptors and the Clinical Nurse Educator to set meaningful learning goals
- Role‑model exemplary, recovery‑oriented practice
- Help ensure consistent, safe, patient‑centered care
- Support staff in addressing developmental needs promptly to enhance the learning experience
About you
To be successful in this role you will:
- Hold current nursing registration with AHPRA
- Have experience in AOD Nursing and/or commitment of further professional development in AOD
- Have, or be working towards, a post graduate qualification relevant to the position
- Have excellent knowledge of best practice, recovery-oriented care and trauma-informed care in mental health nursing care
- Have the ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational, critical thinking, problem solving and prioritisation skills
- Be highly accountable and display a supportive and engaging style
- Have a passion for supporting novice nurses to develop the specialized skillset required to be a mental health nurse
- Be willing to engage in process of clinical supervision
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
