About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Dietitian to join Eastern Health's Paediatric Eating Disorders team. This role is integral to providing specialised dietetic care to children and adolescents. 

The successful candidate will provide dietetic assessment, management plans, evaluation and ongoing dietetic support for children and young people with an eating disorder admitted to the Paediatric Ward at Box Hill Hospital; outpatient dietetic review and primary and secondary consultation to ICYMHS community services as required. This will include the development of strong collaborative relationships with Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service community teams to support family engagement with community mental health treatment, and to promote well integrated, coordinated and evidence-based care. In addition, the dietitian will provide, as required, discipline specific consultation and support to the adolescent psychiatric unit at Box Hill Hospital regarding admitted young people 13 to 18 years of age. 

The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with our nursing, medical and allied health team to provide consumers and their families with individualised and comprehensive medical and mental health assessment and treatment services. 

In addition to clinical work, there is opportunity to participate in innovative quality improvement and research projects. Prospective candidates are welcome to discuss their application with us prior to submission.  

 

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess: 

  • Eligible for membership of the Dietitians Australia (DA) and the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program 
  • Current Victorian Working with Children Check 
  • Holder of a current Driver’s Licence 
  • Well consolidated post-graduate experience 
  • Demonstrated advanced dietetic skills across a range of clinical areas, particularly eating disorders and paediatrics 
  • Relevant theoretical knowledge, experience and skills in the provision of evidence based nutritional management of children, adolescents and young people with eating disorders 
  • Demonstrated multidisciplinary teamwork skills 
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop evidence based and innovative dietetic services 
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of research and quality improvement activities  
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and education  
  • Demonstrated experience in Dietetic student clinical education & training 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
