About the role
An excellent opportunity exists for a Head of Laboratory-Haematology at Eastern Health Pathology (EHP). EHP is an expanding public service pathology provider to the Eastern Health Network situated at Box Hill Hospital. This position is for a Head of Laboratory-Haematology covering a broad spectrum of Haematology, Transfusion Medicine and Flow Cytometry in a teaching hospital setting, the position holder will have laboratory diagnostic and clinical /non-clinical liaison responsibilities.
About you
To be successful in this role the following will be required of you:
- Consistent demonstration of clinical competency.
- Participate in setting the standards for high quality, compassionate clinical care within the Department.
- If in a full-time position, if required, the incumbent would allow use of their Provider number for Medicare Billing by the Hospital.
- Ability to communicate with the Program and Pathology Medical Director, support the implementation of any Change Management framework to drive effective communication and engagement with staff and stakeholders regarding change proposals, and build a collaborative culture of innovation, agility and excellence.
- Notifies the Pathology Program Director and/or the Pathology Medical Director of any ongoing customer complaints or concerns.
- High levels of professionalism and working relationships with all co-workers.
- Punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Capacity to work across different hospital sites within Eastern Health.
- Appropriate supervision of all junior Haematopathology medical staff at all times.
- Appropriate medical documentation.
- Undertaking of specific tasks under assigned portfolio/s for administrative work, audit, patient safety and clinical guideline development, teaching and research.
- Professional representation of the department and hospital internally within Eastern Health and externally in the broader health system.
- To provide excellent clinical care for our patients.
- To provide leadership for junior medical and other clinical staff.
- To support the Hospital’s teaching, research and clinical governance programs.
Essential:
- Must hold current medical registration with AHPRA.
- Must have significant clinical experience and clinical research in Haematopathology and other related fields.
- Must hold a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA)
- Must be recognised by Medicare as a specialist in Haematopathology.
- Must meet the requirements of AHPRA, the RCPA and any other relevant specialist Colleges in continuing professional development program
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
