  • Positions are not for one specific site as we have multiple sites that require coverage from time to time.
  • Permanent rotating roster with 6 weeks annual leave providing a secure working environment with existing staff that have many years of experience these staff are more than willing to impart their knowledge and assist new staff where they can to thrive.

About the role

The Eastern Health Security Team is a dynamic team supporting the clinical teams with maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors across many sites. 

The security team provide a strong and proactive presence within the hospitals and are required to respond to emergency codes when required and provide protection of property and people during these codes and assist clinical staff where necessary. 

A day with us could include any combination of the following duties 

  • Provide an immediate response and action to critical alarms including building plant, fire, and duress alarms. 

  • Support Eastern Health’s Emergency Code response by assisting Hospital Coordinators, Nursing Coordinators, Incident Controllers, Code Coordinators, Wardens & other key staff. 

  • Respond promptly to all events involving aggression and violence to maintain the safety of all staff, patients, and visitors. 

  • Provide physical and mechanical restraint support within a Code Grey team response. 

  • Prepare restraint beds and trolleys as directed. 

  • Provide short term patient watch duties in accordance with Eastern Health policies. 

  • Conduct searches of patients and visitors in accordance with Eastern Health policies. 

  • Escort trespassers from hospital grounds in accordance with Eastern Health policies. 

  • Provide general security support to requests from Eastern Health staff. 

  • Escort staff, visitors, and patients to areas within the hospital precinct. 

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the building layout along with an ability to move quickly to areas where alarms have been generated. 

  • Patrol hospital internal and external areas including designated staff car parking facilities. 

  • Conduct lockup/unlock procedures of designated access points. 

  • Operate Closed Circuit Television, Body Worn Cameras and two-way radio systems and report maintenance issues. 

  • Operate a safe custody system. This includes collection and return of patient valuables well as storage of dangerous and prohibited items under the direction of senior clinical staff. 

  • Support Business Services Centre and reception staff with way finding duties. 

  • Manage access issues/requests related to staff and public car parking facilities. 

  • Monitor compliance of hospital parking and traffic signs and provide ability to serve Parking Infringement Notices 

 

About you 
To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • A current Victorian security licence  

  • Working with children check 

  • The availability to work an 8-hour shift, minimum 9 day fortnight encompassing days, afternoons & nights over a 7 day period on a fixed 6 fortnight rotating roster with the availability to assist with overtime when required. 

  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience 

  • A strong commitment to high quality care 

  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team. 

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills 

  • Willingness to learn. 


Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role.  An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
