About the role

 

Eastern Health is seeking an experienced and motivated ICT Security Officer to support and enhance the organisation’s cyber security posture. This role plays a critical part in protecting clinical and corporate information systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare security standards, and responding to cyber security threats and incidents.

You will work closely with ICT teams, clinical stakeholders, and external partners to safeguard Eastern Health’s information assets while enabling innovation and digital transformation.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor and manage cyber security tools, controls, and alerts
  • contribute to the positive security culture within the team
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities
  • Support implementation and maintenance of security frameworks, policies, and standards
  • Conduct risk assessments, security reviews, and vulnerability assessments
  • Assist with compliance assessments
  • Provide cyber security advice to ICT projects and operational teams
  • Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives across the organisation
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting on security activities

 

 

About You

 

You are a security‑focused ICT professional with experience working in complex enterprises or healthcare environments. You bring a practical and collaborative approach to cyber security, balancing risk management with operational needs.

 

Essential Skills & Experience

 

  • Demonstrated experience in an ICT security or cyber security role
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, controls, and best practices
  • Experience with security monitoring, incident response, and threat analysis
  • Knowledge of Australian cyber standards and frameworks (e.g. Essential Eight, NIST, ISM, etc)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft enterprise environments and cloud security concepts
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience in healthcare, government, or regulated environments
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Security+, CISSP, CISM, CEH)
  • Experience with SIEM, endpoint security, or identity and access management tools
