Turning Points Lived Experience Workforce are looking for our next lived experience peer support worker to join our team in providing support for individuals accessing our Wellington House detox service. While the role will primarily be based at Welington House, there may be a requirement to travel to other sites.

Turning Point is now a national treatment, research and education centre that provides leadership in the alcohol and drug, gambling and mental health sectors. Combining research with service innovation, surveillance, system enhancements, education, capacity building and specialist support, Turning Point is a recognised centre of excellence that assists services, communities and governments to respond to current and emerging issues. Turning Point is part of Eastern Health and is affiliated with Monash University.

- Well, an exciting opportunity now exists for a lived experience peer support worker to take up a role within Turning Points Lived Experience Workforce at Wellington House.
- The role of the lived experience peer support worker will be to provide direct support to individuals accessing Wellington House. The role focuses on assisting consumers with recovery and wellness planning to help gain a sense of control and empowerment over their lives by building on internal strengths and resources and in turn, building self-advocacy.
- The role also provides a range of opportunities including direct one-to-one engagement, providing pre and post detox support, group work and supporting research projects.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Lived experience of substance use and recovery and has accessed AOD services
- Experience working in a lived experience peer support role - minimum 12 months work experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team including but not limited to nurses, addiction specialists, psychologists, doctors
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A driver’s licence

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
