The Medical Administration Registrar role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside senior medical leaders and gain firsthand experience in the strategic, operational and governance functions of a major metropolitan health service. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will be exposed to a diverse portfolio spanning clinical governance, medical workforce, medico-legal services, medical education, digital health and organisational improvement.
This RACMA accredited training position provides valuable experience in medical management within a complex healthcare environment, allowing you to contribute to initiatives that improve patient outcomes, strengthen workforce capability and support high-quality healthcare delivery.
Working closely with experienced medical executives, you will develop practical leadership and management skills while contributing to projects that influence organisational strategy, clinical quality, patient safety and service improvement. Responsibilities and portfolios will be tailored to your experience, interests and training requirements, supporting your progression towards a career in medical administration and health service leadership.
This position involves:
- Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient safety and healthcare outcomes
- Supporting incident reviews, medico-legal matters and organisational responses to clinical risk
- Developing practical experience in medical workforce management, including recruitment, credentialing, contracting and rostering
- Partnering with the Eastern Health Institute to support medical education, training and wellbeing programs
- Working with senior medical leaders on service improvement, strategic planning and organisational change projects
What you’ll bring
- Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
- Candidacy of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA)
- At least three years' clinical experience
- Demonstrated interest in medical leadership, health service management and clinical governance
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Well-developed analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to continuous learning, professional development and high-quality patient care
- At least one year of RACMA-accredited medical management experience (desirable but not essential)
