Medical Laboratory Scientist 

 

 

  • Temporary Full-time | 12 months fixed term (Maternity Leave)

About the role 

 

 

This is a 12-month fixed term contract for a Grade 1 Medical Scientist in Anatomical Pathology. 

 

 

Anatomical Pathology is seeking an experienced conscientious, hardworking, dedicated individual to join our dynamic multi-skilled team that works together to provide great care, everywhere, every time.   

 

 

The position requires the right candidate to participate in a rotating roster, performing different duties daily within Anatomical Pathology and be available for on-call. Shifts range from 5.30AM to 5:30PM, Monday to Friday.  

 

 

About you  

 

 

To be successful in this role you should possess: 

 

 

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) or equivalent. 
  • Experience in Anatomical Pathology laboratory including specimen reception, embedding, microtomy, frozen sections, special stains and immunohistochemistry.  
  • A strong commitment to high quality care. 
  • An adaptive ability to work as part of a diverse team. 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills. 

 

 

Experience in the following will be highly regarded: 

 

 

  • Surgical Cut-up (simple, non-complex and complex). 
  • Cytology preparation. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience. 

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
