Paediatrics Bookings Ward Clerk
- Permanent Part Time | 0.8 EFT or 8 days per fortnight | 32 hours per week | Days and hours are negotiable
- Primarily based at Box Hill Hospital and at our Maroondah Clinic in Grey Street (this role may require travel between other Eastern Health sites)
- Work with a motivated and passionate teams of Paediatricians, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Allied Health and other health professionals to provide care in a timely manner to our families living within the Eastern Health catchment

About the role
Our Paediatrics Booking clerk is a great opportunity for a someone who has previous clerical experience within a medical setting (or hospital setting), to assist our clinical team in booking appointments for families referred to our Paediatric Services. Eastern Health services a large catchment in Melbourne and offers a range of paediatric services, from Paediatric General Medicine, Paediatric Developmental Clinic, Paediatric Neurology and Paediatric Surgical Services.
The bookings clerk, will primarily have a back of house role in booking patients in from the referrals received, managing our Waitlist data and appointments schedule, liaising with our clinical nurse consultant (CNC) with patient inquiries and be required to work out at Grey Street Clinic (located at Maroondah Hospital) on a Monday to support our clinical team by checking patients in.
To support this role, you will be assisted by our Clinical Nurse Consultant, Midwifery Manager of Ambulatory Services and Paediatric Clinicians and Directors. Supernumerary time will be provided and clinical support available when required.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Previous experience working as an administration clerk (medical / hospital setting preferred)
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to providing high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Confidence in computer literacy
- A dedication to continuous improvement as per our Eastern Health values.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
