About the role

 

The Personal Assistant, Cancer Services is responsible for providing a high level of administrative support to the Clinical Services Director Cancer Services, Clinical Director Haematology, Clinical Director Voluntary Assisted Dying and Deputy Director Oncology.  The position ensures coordination of administrative functions and contributes to the operation and smooth running of the Cancer Services department including orientation and integration of new staff; financial reporting; liaising with other departments and other medical services (both internal and external) and liaising with universities and other senior executive staff.    

 

About you 

 

To be successful in this role you will:

 

  • Be flexible, responsive and able to work within a continually changing environment

  • Have the ability to maintain a professional demeanour 

  • Demonstate a high level of maturity, judgement and discretion. 

  • Extensive experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a hospital or health service environment 

  • High level organisational skills with effective time management 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Demonstrated initiative and attention to detail 

  • The ability to work independently and as part of the team 

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change 

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills 

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications including Microsoft 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and communication technologies (ie teleconferencing) 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
