Pharmacy Technician

 

 

  • Permanent Part-time 2 days per week | Grade 1, 2, or 3 classification based on experience

About the role

 

 

Join one of Melbourne’s largest public health services and make a real impact in patient care and clinical research. In this role, you will: 

 

 

  • Work across all aspects of medicine distribution from dispensing to extemporaneous manufacturing. 
  • Gain hands-on experience in sterile aseptic and chemotherapy compounding. 
  • Contribute to specialist areas such as clinical trials. 
  • Be part of a friendly, supportive team delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care. 
  • Collaborate with a wide range of health professionals, including study coordinators, principal investigators, and external monitors. 
  • Manage Investigational Products (IPs) for clinical trials. 
  • Support prescription processing and maintain accurate inventory control. 

 

 

About you 

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Have a strong interest in aseptic manufacturing, including cytotoxic preparation. 
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and reliability.  
  • Be confident using computer systems (Microsoft Word, Excel; MERLIN experience desirable). 

 

 

Desirable

 

 

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician (highly desirable but not essential). A Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy must be commenced within 6 months of commencement and completed within 24 months.  
  • Experience in clinical trials, aseptic/hazardous compounding, inventory management 

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
