About the role
The Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end delivery of capital, operational, building infrastructure and technology-enabled projects that support Eastern Health’s strategic, clinical, and operational objectives. This includes project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in line with governance and regulatory requirements.
About you
To be successful in this role it is desirable that you will have the below qualifications/experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Business Management, Information Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or Asset Management (e.g., IAM, AM Council).
- Experience delivering projects in complex, live operational environments (preferably healthcare/public sector, including brownfield sites)
- Strong end-to-end project delivery capability (design, procurement, contractor management, commissioning, handover)
- Develop and manage project budgets, monitoring expenditure to ensure delivery within approved financial parameters
- Proven supplier and contractor management across multi-vendor environments (construction/capital works)
- Manage procurement processes and commercial engagement with suppliers and third-party providers (Buying For Vic, Health Share Victoria, Minor/Medium Works VPS contracts etc.)
- Ability to coordinate multiple technical workstreams (ICT, AV, building infrastructure, engineering) for integrated delivery and go-live
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including clinical leaders, EMR, finance, ICT, to ensure alignment with business and clinical needs
- Manage procurement of Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) and/or ICT in accordance with Eastern Health standards and policies
- Oversee On-site Construction activities and Contractor performance
- Understanding of technology implementation impacts within healthcare facilities
- Represent Eastern Health in discussions with external contractors, government agencies, local councils, utility providers, and regulatory authorities.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and clinical/referral systems
- Strong stakeholder management skills, handling competing priorities and operational constraints
- Solid understanding of regulatory, OH&S, and building compliance requirements in health infrastructure
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide strategic advice to senior executives and clinical leaders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with contract administration knowledge
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
