About the role 

 

 

We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and recovery-oriented Lived and Living Experience Educator to join the Mental Health Learning & Teaching team.

 

 

Working alongside Clinical Educators in the Mental Health Learning & Teaching team, the Lived & Living Experience Educator will draw upon their well-developed lived experience expertise to co-produce and co-facilitate training to the mental health and wellbeing workforce.  

 

 

A key focus of the role is to support recovery implementation across the service through training and coaching the mental health workforce in the Collaborative Recovery Model (CRM). The role works according to Learning and Teaching philosophy promoting and facilitating; training, education, research, evidence-based knowledge translation and positive workplace culture.  

 

 

About you 

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will possess: 

 

 

  • Lived experience as a person who has been a consumer or family/carer navigating mental health services, demonstrating understanding and empathy of the broad impact of mental health challenges and psychological distress on consumers, or family/carers, and of the evidence base for person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice. 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or extensive education and training experience. 
  • Experience with Collaborative Recovery Model (CRM) training (or willingness to complete) and extensive knowledge of recovery-oriented practice 
  • Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Training or willingness to complete. 
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or equivalent experience in a designated lived and living experience role. 
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to inspire, influence and motivate staff and to contribute to and foster a positive learning culture 
  • The ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational, critical thinking, problem solving and prioritisation skills 
  • Current Victorian drivers licence 

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
