This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an enhanced mental health service for infant, children and youth with a serious mental health illness (aged 0 – 25 years) and their families.

 

The ICYMHS Access Team provides the entry point into the service for children, young people, and their families who are generally contacting mental health services for the first time. The Access Team also provides brief intervention via the Short Term Assessment & Treatment Clinic.  

 

We are seeking a senior mental health clinician to join our large, innovative and enthusiastic team, located in vibrant Box Hill. 

 

The Senior Clinician role is varied and includes:

  • Managing and prioritising referrals for the ICYMHS community and specialist teams
  • Telephone and face-to-face assessments of young people presenting with acute and/or complex mental health concerns, including coverage of Box Hill Hospital Emergency Department during business hours
  • Short term intervention for young people and their families including Family Therapy with the reflective team
  • Primary and secondary consultations to other service providers
  • Providing supervision and support for junior clinicians in the Access Team

About you 
To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Registered Psychiatric Nurse registration with AHPRA; for Social Work, eligibility for membership of AASW 
  • At least five years clinical experience working with children or young people
  • A strong commitment to high quality care 
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills 

Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role.  An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
