About the role
The Senior Pharmacy Technician position will oversee the delivery of pharmacy technician service to Box Hill Hospital, Blackburn Public Surgical Centre and other associated Eastern Health sites in accordance with the department’s policies and procedures.
This role will provide leadership, planning and human resource management of the pharmacy technician team and be a member of the Pharmacy Department Senior Management Group.
This role will hold the Eastern Health Pharmacy lead technician portfolio for Pharmacy Education. This includes Education, Training and Clinical Support.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Hold a Certificate IV in Hospital-Health Services Pharmacy Support with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified Pharmacy Technician
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- Good time-management skills and the ability to work to a deadline
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Strong commitment to high quality care
The following skills are desirable:
- Working knowledge of Merlin Pharmacy System, Cerner EMR system, and OmniCel automatic dispensing cabinet
- Knowledge of aseptic manufacturing including cytotoxic manufacturing
- Experience with quality improvement methodologies
- Experience with delivering education and training to pharmacy technicians
