Senior Project Manager – Capital Projects

  • Ongoing, full-time position. Part-time arrangements may be considered by agreement with the hiring manager
  • Based at Eastern Health Box Hill Campus or another Eastern Health site as agreed, with travel across Eastern Health sites as required
  • Lead complex, high-risk and strategically significant capital projects that directly support safe and effective healthcare delivery

Eastern Health is one of Victoria's largest public health services. As a values-led, integrated service united by our Healthier Together promise, we deliver high-quality care, support and service to a broad and diverse community across Melbourne’s east and beyond.

About the role

Reporting to the Associate Director – Capital Projects, the Senior Project Manager leads the delivery of complex, high-risk and strategically significant capital projects across Eastern Health’s campuses. The role provides leadership, assurance and advice across an assigned portfolio and may lead staff, coordinate internal or external project resources, or directly manage projects, depending on portfolio priorities and the agreed delivery model. Success in the role means delivering projects safely, on time and within budget while meeting regulatory, governance and operational requirements and minimising disruption to live clinical services.

This position involves:

  • Leading end-to-end project delivery across planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover and defects
  • Managing budgets, cashflows, forecasts, procurement, contracts, variations, claims, consultants and contractors
  • Managing risks, issues and dependencies and providing assurance and escalation across an assigned portfolio
  • Preparing governance papers, progress reports and stage-gate submissions for project control groups and steering committees
  • Line management and support for project delivery staff, coordinating resources and advising on competing priorities and resourcing gaps

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience delivering capital projects in healthcare, the public sector or a similarly complex operational environment
  • Experience delivering high-value construction and engineering infrastructure projects, particularly in brownfield or live operational settings
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary delivery teams, coordinate internal and external resources, balance competing priorities and provide portfolio assurance
  • Strong commercial capability across budgets, forecasts, procurement, contracts, variations, claims and financial reporting
  • Strong risk management, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to advise senior executives and governance forums

What we offer

Being part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts. We offer a range of benefits including:

  • Investment in your career through continuous learning, mentoring, professional development, and opportunities to progress into specialist, leadership or advanced practice pathways.
  • Work-life balance with flexible working arrangements, study and professional development leave, and leave purchasing options.
