About the role

The Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS) provides mental health assessments, case management, and clinical interventions for children and young people (0 -26 years), who present with mental health difficulties, and their families.  The Senior Speech Pathologist will provide high quality clinical speech pathology communication assessment and consultation services for children and young people 0 – 26 years of age presenting with complex mental health challenges, trauma, and/or disabilities.   The position is part of a multidisciplinary team that has access to ongoing professional development as well as regular clinical and professional supervision.  We are a growing and dynamic team, who are dedicated to high quality care and supporting one another.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia including demonstrated evidence of professional development activities equivalent to Certified Practising Speech Pathologist requirements 
  • A demonstrated capacity to inspire, influence, lead and motivate staff and to contribute to a positive and compassionate organisational culture. 
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical thinking and investigative skills involving research & quality improvement activities, benchmarking and resource identification, including innovative, service delivery models 
  • Experience in assessment and delivery of assessment in one to one models for clients. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to utilise a parent capacity building model 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, efficient work practices 
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and applying current clinical knowledge 
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, leadership and conflict management, in order to facilitate effective team functioning.  
  • Demonstrated capacity to conduct supervision with students, and to provide coaching, mentoring or peer support 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
