About the role
Eastern Health is currently looking for a passionate and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health teams at Box Hill Hospital. This role will work across our new stroke service in conjunction with a general medicine caseload, in an innovative multidiscilinary team.
We are excited to launch a new acute in-reach rehabilitation model of care for stroke patients at Box Hill Hospital. This innovative service aims to optimise rehabilitation access by providing early assessment and intervention for patients who are awaiting transfer to rehabilitation, requiring rehab but not yet ready for subacute care, or those who can be discharged directly home with support. Working in partnership the award-winning acute stroke multidisciplinary team, the in-reach team will enhance patient flow and support high-acuity care by commencing timely, evidence-based rehabilitation interventions.
This role works with a large speech pathology team and are supported with regular supervision and opportunities for professional development, guided by our learning and teaching program. We also offer in-house learning pathways for VFSS, tracheostomy and FEES. This role will support the supervision of students and grade 1 clinicians.

To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- An established track record of highly developed interpersonal skills
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- Ability to set relevant rehabilitation short term goals with your clients
- The ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
