  • Limited Term Part Time | 1 day per week | 3 months contract (Jan start)
  • Box Hill & Blackburn Hospitals | 8 hours a week

About the role

 

The Urogynaecology Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) role is for an advanced practice nurse who provides expert clinical leadership in the triaging, coordination, assessment and management of patients with pelvic-floor disorders to ensures high-quality, streamlined care across outpatient, diagnostic, and preoperative pathways.  

The role will include triaging /managing the waitlist, directing new referrals for urgency, appropriateness, and required investigations and assigning patients to correct service streams. The CNC is expected to lead and run a pessary clinic along with coordinating the urodynamic studies.  

The role ensures smooth clinical flow and efficient allocation of patients to the right services, support registrar and consultants and clerical staff. They will need to play a pivotal role in preparing /contacting surgical candidates and ensuring all required investigations, perioperative instructions and multidisciplinary coordination (if needed) is completed prior to surgery.  

The CNC is also expected to lead incident review discussions related to urogynaecology, contribute and monitor adherence to guidelines and collect and analyse data for service improvements (e.g., waiting times, complication rates). 

 

 

About you 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current Nursing Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 
  • Compliance with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standards. 
  • Previous clinical experience and specific interest in Urogynaecology. 
  • Understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards requirements for Accreditation. 
  • A strong commitment to high quality care and clinical safety. 
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team and promote strong interdisciplinary collaboration. 
  • Commitment to shared decision-making processes and engaging consumers in their care. 
  • Ability to advocate for diverse and vulnerable consumer groups.  
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development. 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Experience and interest in using improvement methodology to drive positive change

 

Desirable:

    • 2-years post graduate experience   
    • Masters level education  
    • Clinical leadership experience

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
