Turning Point

Turning Point is a leading AOD centre with developed dedicated pillars of workforce development through education and training, research and clinical care. Renowned in Victoria, nationally and internationally, Turning Point is about to celebrate 30 years as an agency for treatment, research and training, is part of Eastern Health and affiliated with Monash University. Turning Point launched Victoria's first statewide hub for improving integrated care, the Hamilton Centre, located in Richmond. Hamilton Centre Eastern, located in Box Hill, is the eastern region spoke of Hamilton Centre, one of four similar arms of Hamilton Centre. Turning Point works closely with Eastern Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Program and has collaborated with the Yarra Ranges MHW Local, a community based mental health service, to support its provision of addiction support and treatment.

About the role

Turning Point, through its role with the Hamilton Centre Eastern and the Yarra Ranges Mental Health and Wellbeing Local, seek a consultant with suitable qualifications in addiction medicine (FAChAM) or addiction psychiatry (FRANZCP), who is interested in the field of cooccurring mental health conditions and addiction. This unique role is set in relatively recently established and innovative services: Hamilton Centre Eastern (located in Ringwood and Box Hill) and Yarra Ranges MHW Local in Lilydale, with an allocated EFT of 0.4 and 0.2 respectively.

The role will involve some direct clinical care in the Local component, as well as working toward a goal of growing the capacity of mental health and AOD clinicians to manage cooccurring disorders. Both positions are linked with Turning Point Eastern Treatment Service and the successful applicant will be working with diverse and passionate teams that include senior medical staff, addiction trainees, allied health, nurses and peers.

This is a unique and exciting hybrid position, for an addiction psychiatrist or Fellow of the RACP Chapter of Addiction Medicine.
