About the role  

Ward 5.1 is a 16-bed acute medical unit with an additional 4 Flexi beds open during the morning shifts only. The proposed model of care is an Accelerated Acute Medical Unit (AAMU) model for short stay General Medicine patients with an expected Length of Stay (LOS) of 48 to 72 hours. 

 

The Ward Clerk provides clerical assistance to the Nurse Manager or relevant clinical staff to enable the smooth operation of the ward. Tasks include performing patient related clerical duties, maintaining medical records, communicating effectively and courteously with patients, relatives and hospital staff. 

 

About you   
To be successful in this role you will possess:   

  • Previous experience working in a similar role and environment 
  • Computer competent; with excellent working knowledge of Patient Management Systems, Microsoft Word and Excel  
  • Advanced telephone skills and clerical skills  
  • Ability to provide quality customer service in a friendly and professional manner  
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills  
  • To have an interest in working in a patient centred environment  
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team  
  • Demonstrated ability to work within deadlines  
  • High degree of flexibility.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
