About the role

 

 

The Clinical Nurse Manager (Grade 4 Registered Mental Health Nurse), in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager and Lead Consultant Psychiatrist, is accountable for the effective clinical management of South Ward Older Adult Acute Inpatient Unit. The role demonstrates highly developed consolidated clinical skills at a proficient to expert level, aligned with the Eastern Health Nursing and Midwifery Domains of Practice.

 

 

As a member of the specialist team, the Clinical Nurse Manager actively leads nursing clinical service delivery and works collaboratively with the extended multidisciplinary team to address clinical quality and risk, service performance, and care standards within South Ward Inpatient Unit. This includes ensuring appropriate delegation, supervision, and clinical supervision for less experienced Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses.

 

 

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is a key nursing resource and clinical advisor to staff within the Inpatient Unit and across the broader Eastern Health services. Core focus areas include the coordination of nursing clinical service delivery and settings, as well as demonstrating, promoting, and upholding best‑practice nursing care and recovery‑oriented standards.

 

 

The Clinical Nurse Manager actively contributes to team planning and development activities within the South Ward Inpatient Unit. This includes leading and participating in projects, research, and development initiatives aimed at addressing identified clinical nursing needs and optimising consumer outcomes.

 

 

 

About you 

 

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Highly exceptional skills in clinical leadership , staff management and development, patient safety & clinical risk management, communication and collaboration.
  • Great skills in ensuring safe practice and clinical compliance
  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA 
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role or at a senior clinical level (desirable)

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
