Mental Health Social Worker Grade 3 – Older Adult Inpatient 

 

  • Permanent full-time | 5 weeks annual leave + monthly day off included

About the role

As a Grade 3 Social Worker within Older Persons Mental Health, you will provide specialist social work interventions that support consumers to achieve optimal independence, community participation, and improved quality of life outcomes. Working within a recovery-oriented framework, you will help ensure consumers receive timely, coordinated, and person-centred care that responds to both their health and social needs.

 

In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a strong commitment to consumer and carer-centred practice. You will actively involve consumers, carers, and external service providers in decision-making processes, advocate on behalf of consumers where required, and provide specialised education, information, and support tailored to individual needs. Through your clinical expertise and leadership, you will contribute to positive outcomes for consumers and their support networks.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • A qualification in Social Work approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers for membership as a Social Worker.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to practice utilising the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching personal recovery goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in working with clients with mental health issues and their carers and families, in community/inpatient settings.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of contemporary recovery principles and practices including research and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated well developed knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation, policies, plans, and strategic directions of public mental health services.

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
