Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

Community Rehabilitation is a time-limited, goal-based program, where the incumbent will be expected to work with the client, their carers & our interdisciplinary team to maximise health, functional independence & community participation. Workload will incorporate both home and centre-based activity inclusive of leading group programs which may include aquatic physiotherapy.

As a Grade 2 physiotherapist in the Community Rehabilitation Program, you will be responsible for managing a mixed caseload of musculoskeletal and general rehabilitation clients in addition to non-clinical portfolios and responsibilities. This position requires sound clinical skills across musculoskeletal and general rehabilitation, and an ability to assess and manage psychosocially complex clients with the support of the interdisciplinary team. This position may also include a role in the supervision, mentoring and support to students, junior staff and allied health assistants.

About you

You will be a dynamic, enthusiastic team player who is actively seeking to collaborate with others to improve outcomes and experiences for your patients. You will be able to work autonomously in the community. You may participate in teaching, training, research and quality activities in consultation with your Team Leader/Senior Clinician and/or Manager (Community Rehabilitation Program).

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current Physiotherapy registration with AHPRA.
  • Experience in managing a complex musculoskeletal and/or general rehabilitation caseload and comprehensive discharge planning using a client-centred approach.
  • Broad clinical experience encompassing diverse patient presentations.
  • Previous clinical experience working in an aligned clinical environment.
  • High level communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in supervision of staff and/or students.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
