Community Mental Health Transition to Specialty Practice Program (Registered Nurse)

About the role

 

Eastern Health is recruiting to Mental Health Transition to Specialty Practice Positions across numerous mental health team for 2025, including adult case management, early psychosis team, dual diagnosis, older adult case management and the Box Hill MST team (which requires 12 months of experience in contemporary acute mental health)

 

The transition to speciality practice (TSP community) is a formalised, structured and supportive career development program for mental health nurses wishing to gain experience working in a community setting. 

As community mental health is by nature interdisciplinary, it is vital that experienced, confident nurses are able to work as part of the team. 

 

The TSP offers a formalised career development program for nurses transitioning from acute inpatient units to a community setting.  

 

About you

 

To be succesful, you will posses:

 

  • Bachelor of Nursing or other recognised equivalent formal qualification leading to condition free registration in Australia 

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA 

  • 12 months’ post registration employment experience, inclusive of six months’ experience in contemporary acute mental health (12months experience in contemporary acute mental health for MST position)

  • Demonstrated clinical skills aligned with experience and scope of practice 

  • Motivated and self-directed learner who is receptive to feedback 

  • Well-developed communication skills  

  • Patient centred practice  

  • Passion for clinical excellence  

  • Willingness to engage in clinical supervision practice 

  • Willingness to work rotating roster 

  • A current valid Victorian Drivers Licence 


Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role.  An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
