About the role

 

 

These positions are suitable for Hospital Medical Officers (PGY 3+)/ Registrars interested in pursuing a career in Surgery with a start date of February 2026. Our rotations provide tailored training to meet the College requirements to enter the GSET/SET programs.  All candidates will have access to a range of mandatory surgical placements, as well as ICU and rural placements.

 

 

Formal teaching placements are offered to meet the criteria for GSET/SET application.  Research opportunities exist with a weekly research group, as well as research opportunities within individual specialty units.

 

 

Possible rotations include:

  • General Surgery/AGSU - Box Hill & Maroondah
  • General Surgery - Angliss & Blackburn Surgical Centre
  • General Surgery - Albury (6mth & 12mth available)
  • General Surgery - Bairnsdale (6mth & 12mth available)
  • Vascular Surgery - Box Hill
  • Colorectal Surgery - Maroondah
  • Breast & Endocrine Surgery - Maroondah
  • ICU
  • General Surgery - Nights
  • Relieving - General Surgery, Vascular, Plastics, ENT, Urology, Rural

 

 

(8 rotations including formal teaching)

 

 

The successful candidates will be required to work across all Eastern Health campuses and may be rotated to Albury Wodonga Health or Bairnsdale Health. As such, a current driver’s license will be required.

 

 

About you 

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Current Registration with AHPRA or Eligibility for Provisional Registration with AHPRA   
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
