About the role
The Orthopaedic Registrar works collaboratively with the Orthopaedic Surgeons to provide high-quality care for patients throughout their surgical journey.
You will be responsible for the ongoing clinical management of orthopaedic patients within the unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. This includes conducting daily patient reviews and maintaining accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation in the medical record.
The successful applicant will actively participate in consultant-led ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and operating theatre sessions in accordance with the roster and as directed by the Orthopaedic Surgeons. Effective communication with patients, their families, and members of the multidisciplinary team is essential to support coordinated care and achieve the best possible patient outcomes. The Registrar will also attend surgical ward meetings and other relevant clinical meetings where rostered and operationally appropriate.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Orthopaedic Registrar will provide supervision and clinical support to Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs), contributing to their professional development while fostering a collaborative learning environment and promoting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current general registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
- Minimum 3 year experience within the Australian Hospital system
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
