Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

Eastern Health has two Endocrinology Advanced Trainee positions available in 2027. These positions will be recruited directly by Eastern Health and are not part of the PMCV Endocrinology VIC/TAS Match process.

These are 12-month fixed-term positions comprising a 6-month Core Endocrinology rotation at Angliss Hospital and a 6-month unaccredited Endocrinology rotation at Box Hill Hospital/Epworth Eastern. One trainee will commence at Angliss Hospital and the other at Box Hill Hospital/Epworth Eastern, with the trainees swapping rotations after six months.

At the Angliss Hospital, the Registrar is responsible for providing inpatient Endocrinology consultation services across the hospital. The role includes participation in a broad range of outpatient services, including General Endocrinology Clinics at Angliss and Box Hill Hospitals, a Gestational Diabetes Clinic, an IDEAS Clinic (multidisciplinary community diabetes service), and a monthly evening Type 1 Diabetes Clinic. Registrars will also participate twice weekly in the management of clinical trial patients through the Endocrine Clinical Research Unit (ECRU) at Box Hill Hospital, providing valuable exposure to clinical research.

During the rotation at Box Hill Hospital/Epworth Eastern, the Registrar will manage diabetes referrals, participate in IDEAS clinics, and assist with the care of inpatient endocrinology patients.

There are weekly unit meetings, journal club and endocrine roundtable and ESAP educational meetings, monthly thyroid cancer MDMs, 2-monthly pituitary MDMs, as well as a fortnightly Monash Partners inter-hospital meeting. Research projects will be strongly supported.

On-call duties are shared on a one-in-four roster between four Endocrinology Registrars.

These two positions are busy Endocrinology roles with a large variety, interesting Endocrinology, and well-suited to trainees who require an elective year, or who would like to strengthen their Endocrinology experience and CV.
