About the role 

 

 

Be part of a dynamic and supportive Obstetrics & Gynaecology team committed to delivering safer, better care for women and babies. 

As a Registrar, you will play an integral role in providing high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care while working closely with Consultants, Senior Registrars, midwifery staff, paediatricians and allied health teams. The position will provide the applicant with broad exposure to all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The position will include evening, weekend and night duty. 

 

 

We are seeking motivated Registrars to join our service across Birth Suite, Ward Cover, Theatre, FMAC and outpatient clinic settings. This role offers excellent exposure to acute obstetrics, antenatal care, operative gynaecology, emergency presentations and multidisciplinary teamwork. 

As an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Registrar, you will participate in daily 0800 clinical handover and multidisciplinary ward rounds while providing comprehensive ward and birth suite cover, including emergency department and GP referrals. 

 

 

You will support labour ward management and deliver high-quality intrapartum care, as well as assist in daily theatre sessions with exposure to a broad range of obstetric and gynaecological procedures. The role also includes participation in FMAC, SMS and YRH clinics alongside experienced consultants and senior clinicians. You will work collaboratively with Consultants, VMOs, paediatricians, midwifery and multidisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient care, while also following up pathology, radiology and histology results to coordinate ongoing management. In addition, you will contribute to education, teaching, clinical governance activities and Perinatal M&M meetings as part of a strong culture of learning and continuous improvement.  

 

 

A Victorian Driver's license (or equivalent) is a requirement for this position.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
