About the Role
Our Graduate Registered Nurse Program is progressive, responsive and innovative. We use the latest evidence to develop our program study days together with regular feedback from our graduates.
We support and facilitate the development of a well prepared, high quality, safe nursing and midwifery workforce committed to improving health outcomes.
We have three pathways for nursing graduates in 2027 including:
- General Nursing (12 months with 2 rotations)
- Mental Health Nursing (once matched with Eastern Health, there is opportunity to express interest for a) 12 months in mental health, or b) 6 month in general nursing and 6 month in mental health nursing).
- Collaborative program with Alexandra District Health (ADH) (6 months at Eastern Health and 6 months at ADH)

- Graduate Program Application Form - Please download the form, and upload the completed form to the "CV" field. Your CV is not required.
- Most up-to-date academic transcript with grading key - Digital and non-certified versions are accepted. If you transferred credits from another institution / course toward your nursing degree, please submit the transcripts from those institution(s). Transcripts for unrelated degrees (e.g. Education) are not required. Please upload transcripts to the "Additional Documents" field.
- Evidence of COVID vaccinations (if applicable)
- Evidence of most recent flu vaccine
- 2 or 3 most recent placement appraisals (also known as "Clinical Assessment Tools" or "ANSAT"). These placement appraisals are to be uploaded to the "Additional Documents" field. Please include the title page which contains the placement location, placement type, and dates. The summative pages should include the scoring scales, assessor's written feedback, and assessor signature.
- General nursing or ADH pathways: please upload 2 acute / sub-acute nursing appraisals (no community placements)
- Mental health pathway: please upload 1 acute / sub-acute nursing appraisal AND 1 mental health appraisal (community placements accepted)
- If applying for both general and mental health pathways: please upload an additional third appraisal (e.g. 2 acute / sub-acute nursing appraisals AND 1 mental health appraisal (community placements accepted)).

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
