  • Enjoy flexible work options, peer support and regular supervision and reviews within a collaborative multidisciplinary team

About the role

We are seeking passionate and motivated Grade 2 and 3 Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) to join our team across a range of professions and Eastern Health sites.

The roles on offer are across all our allied health professions in our acute and rehab bed-based services. As a multidisciplinary AHA you work with two or more allied health professions, contributing to a coordinated, patient-centred model of care. These roles are new to Eastern Health and, while across many professions, they are sit under the supervision of one allied health profession and can access development opportunities and support from any of the professions. The profession-specific roles are key players in the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams who work to deliver safe, evidence-based and person-centred care as part of the multi-disciplinary bed-based teams.

Social Work AHAs are new roles and are a great opportunity for 3rd and 4th year Social Work students and qualified AHAs to develop knowledge and skills in providing an innovative and high-quality hospital social work service.

We offer a supportive, inclusive environment with strong supervision, generous entitlements, and professional development opportunities to help you grow your career. We are investing heavily in our AHA workforce and actively partner with our workers to grow their skills and enhance their working experience. Whether you are looking to develop your skills, broaden your experience or take the next step in your allied health career, you will be supported to make a genuine difference to our diverse community.

Our current opportunities include:

Permanent, part time:

  • 24 hours per week Grade 3 Occupational Therapy AHA located at Peter James Centre in Burwood East
  • 32 hours per week Grade 3 multidisciplinary AHA based in rehab services located at Wantirna

Fixed term, full time:

  • Physiotherapy AHA located at Maroondah Hospital

Casual:

  • Grade 2 and 3 Social Work AHAs across multiple sites
  • Grade 3 multidisciplinary AHA located at Box Hill Hospital and/or Maroondah Hospital on weekends and weekdays

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or recognised equivalent.
  • For Grade 2 AHAs, a minimum of 80 hours of clinical experience.
  • For Grade 3 AHAs, a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Grade 2 AHA.
  • Demonstrated human rights-based approach to all aspects of work.
  • An ability to recognise, understand and report risk with sound judgement.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
