About the role

 

 

The Endocrinology and Diabetes Department provides inpatient care, consultation and clinic services across multiple Eastern Health campuses, supporting care for adult patients with diabetes and the full range of endocrinological conditions. Additionally, the Department supports six community-based, multidisciplinary IDEAS clinics for patients with complex type 2 diabetes. Eastern Health is an approved RACP advanced training site for 2 RCY endocrinology registrars and recent accreditation for 2 x 0.5 Core endocrinology registrars. The Department is active in endocrinology research and participates in clinical trials via the Eastern Clinical Research Unit (ECRU) within Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University, which is co-located at Box Hill.

 

 

An academic appointment through Monash University Eastern Health Clinical School at the appropriate level will be facilitated for the successful applicant.

 

 

Reporting to the Clinical Service Director for Specialty Medicine and operating in accordance with Eastern Health’s values, the role of the Clinical Director Endocrinology is to lead Endocrinology services at Eastern Health with a focus on ensuring excellence in clinical care, teaching and research. The Clinical Director will partner effectively with the Deputy Director Operations Specialty Medicine to provide clear accountability and direction for the department and to optimize clinical outcomes and performance through the application of quality systems and evidence-based practice.

 

 

The Clinical Director will hold an active clinical role within the department with a 50% split between clinical and non-clinical responsibilities.

 

 

Key capabilities for success include the willingness and ability to balance clinical and non-clinical priorities, drive direction for optimal clinical service delivery while incorporating organisational strategic alignment. and exceptional communication and influencing skills.

 

 

The Clinical Director will build and sustain a high performing team and promote a safe and welcoming workplace culture that drives positive changes to enable and empower our people to deliver a high standard of healthcare to our community.

 

 

About you

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Fellowship of the Australasian College of Physicians
  • Specialist medical registration with AHPRA
  • Substantial clinical experience in Endocrinology
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A track record of excellence in teaching and research is highly desirable

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
