About the role

 

The purpose of the Cloud Database Engineer / DBA role is to design, implement, manage, and optimise database systems that support the organization’s applications and data services. This position ensures high availability, security, scalability, and performance of database environments across cloud and hybrid infrastructure. The role is also responsible for supporting database migrations, automation, monitoring, and ongoing operational excellence, while aligning with business continuity, compliance, and governance requirements.

 

Working collaboratively with solution architects, application developers, infrastructure teams, and cloud service providers, the Cloud Database Engineer / DBA plays a key role in investigating issues with databases, diagnosing root causes and working on resolving associated issues and undertaking possible actions to minimise service disruption and facilitate operations.

 

About you 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a technology-related field
  • Ability to manage and maintain databases hosted on-premises as well as on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
  • Work experience in planning and migrating on-premises databases to Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Experience in implementing and monitoring AOAG ( Always On Availability Groups)
  • Strong understanding of database security practices
  • A good working knowledge of SQL replication, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and Power BI
  • Experience and strong knowledge of database concepts, and understanding of system development life cycle management and process mapping techniques.
  • An understanding of ICT architecture including network, communications, applications and virtual server computing environments.
  • A strong commitment to high-quality care

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
