About the role

 

 

Eastern Health has an Emergency Department (ED) at each of the three acute hospitals (Box Hill Hospital, Maroondah Hospital, Angliss Hospital) located in the Eastern suburbs of the catchment. All Eastern Health EDs are mixed Adult and Paediatric EDs with a wide variety of case complexity and acuity of patient presentations.

 

 

Reporting to the site Clinical Director of Emergency Services and operating in accordance with Eastern Health’s values, the role of the Deputy Clinical Director Emergency Services is to:

 

 

  • Partner effectively with the Eastern Health Emergency Services leadership team, including the Clinical Service Director, site Clinical Director and Nurse Unit Managers
  • Optimise clinical outcomes and performance through the application of quality systems and evidence-based practice.
  • Assist the site Clinical Director to build and sustain a high performing team and promote a safe and welcoming workplace culture that drives positive change to enable and empower our people to deliver a high standard of healthcare to our community.
  • Hold an active clinical role within the department, bringing real-time day-to-day experiences of clinical care to the service and lead reform changes.
  • Contribute actively to provision of clinical care, supervision, and departmental clinical oversight to ensure delivery of high quality, efficient and safe patient care at all times.
  • Actively contributes to collaborative work, departmental cohesion and activities that foster a supportive, fulfilling environment for all staff within the emergency department

 

 

About you

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM)
  • Current specialist medical registration with AHPRA 
  • Must be a registered medical practitioner in the State of Victoria
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Must have significant clinical experience, with experience and training in emergency medicine.
  • Must be recognised by Medicare as a specialist in emergency medicine.
  • Must participate in relevant college continuing education programs particularly related to emergency medicine.

 

 

Other

 

 

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching of medical students, Doctors in Training and other clinical staff, including nursing and allied health.
  • Exposure to research practices and principles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Clinical Governance, Patient safety and Quality Improvement
  • Familiarity with clinical information systems
  • Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
