About the role

Maroondah hospital is a 310 bed mixed metropolitan teaching hospital, and the Emergency department sees approximately 50,000 patient presentations per year, including approximately 20% paediatric presentations. Our services include emergency medicine, general and specialist medicine, general and specialist surgery, critical care services, ambulatory and allied health services. The hospital is a major provider of specialist adult mental health services. Our adult mental health service also provides community adult mental health services throughout Melbourne’s outer-east. In ED, we are proud of our team approach to patient management, as well as our positive culture of striving to deliver excellent care and promoting an inclusive and supportive environment. Our staff have consistent engagement with quality improvement activities, we have a comprehensive junior medical staff education program and a commitment to continual development. 

 

We are looking for enthusiastic emergency specialists who will:

 

Contribute actively to provision of clinical care, supervision, and departmental clinical oversight to ensure delivery of high quality, efficient and safe patient care at all times.

Actively contribute to collaborative work, departmental cohesion and activities that foster a supportive, fulfilling environment for all staff within the emergency department.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current Specialist registration with AHPRA
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Emergency Medicine
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skill
  • Must be a registered medical practitioner in the State of Victoria
  • Must have significant clinical experience, with experience and training in emergency medicine.
  • Must hold a Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) or fellowship of the Australian College of General practitioners (RACGP) with relevant experience in Emergency Medicine, or hold other equivalent qualifications to enable recognition as a specialist Emergency Physician.
  • Must be recognised by Medicare as a specialist in emergency medicine.
  • Must participate in relevant college continuing education programs particularly related to emergency medicine.

Other

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching of medical students and HMOs.
  • Teaching experience of other clinical staff – nursing and allied health.
  • Exposure to research practices and principles.
  • Familiarity with clinical information systems
  • Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role. An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
