About the role

This is a full-time senior staff specialist position as a consultant hepatologist / gastroenterologist with additional leadership responsibilities within the Gastroenterology Department for the Box Hill Hospital Site.

 

This role will require the successful applicant to:

  • Provide excellent clinical care for his/her patients
  • Support and actively contribute to the Hospital and Gastroenterology Department teaching, research and clinical governance programs
  • Work collaboratively with other colleagues and support the Clinical Director in delivering high quality gastroenterology services with particular responsibilities for the Box Hill Hospital site
  • Provide leadership and guidance for junior medical and other clinical staff
  • Participate in the Gastroenterology Unit quality activity programs & departmental meetings

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current specialist registration with AHPRA and Medicare
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or hold equivalent qualification to enable recognition as a specialist Gastroenterologist
  • Certification with Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE)
  • A higher degree or specialist fellowship experience in hepatology
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care, teaching and research
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Up to date participation in relevant college continuing education programs particularly related to Gastroenterology

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
