Eastern Health
Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.
Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.
This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.
About the role
As the Improvement Partner, you will play a critical role within the Continuous Improvement team, part of the Allied Health, Strategy, Improvement & Experience directorate at Eastern Health.
You will support the delivery and evolution of the Improving Performance Together framework by applying practical improvement systems that empower staff and teams to solve meaningful problems and identify opportunities for change.
Reporting to the Director of Continuous Improvement, you will provide leadership in building a culture and capability for continuous improvement across the organisation. You will work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams across all programs, directorates, and campuses, coaching and advising on initiatives that align with Eastern Health’s strategic priorities. In this role, you will apply structured improvement methodologies, including Lean and PDSA, and use data analysis tools—such as run charts and statistical process control charts—to inform decision-making and drive measurable improvements in performance, processes, and outcomes. A key focus will be supporting the implementation of Eastern Health’s Continuous Improvement Capability Framework, where you will deliver tools, templates, and training that strengthen organisational capability and help foster a sustainable culture of continuous improvement.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- A strong commitment to enhancing the patient and staff experience in healthcare.
- A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in continuous improvement methodologies, with a strong focus on Plan, Do, Study Act (PDSA) and Lean methodology.
- Proven experience in training and coaching staff in improvement practices and change management
- Proven success in leading and embedding change across teams, underpinned by strong stakeholder management skills — including the ability to design effective engagement structures, negotiate, and influence a diverse and highly skilled workforce.
- A solid understanding of safety and quality measurement and monitoring, with demonstrated expertise in analysing and using data for improvement initiatives.
- Strong ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Tertiary qualification in a health-related field and/or clinical experience within an acute health setting is desirable
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
