About the role

 

 

As the Lead Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Pharmacist at Eastern Health, you will provide specialist expertise in Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship while leading the coordination of our AMS Program in partnership with the AMS Medical Lead, Clinical Director of Infectious Diseases, IPAC, and the Infectious Diseases Unit. As a key member of the Pharmacy management team, you will ensure compliance with NSQHS Standard 3, oversee the activities of the AMS Committee, and report into key governance groups including Medicines Management and Infection Prevention & Control. 
This role combines program leadership with direct clinical practice, including ward rounds, prescriber feedback, and guideline development, while also supervising and mentoring pharmacists and technicians to deliver safe, effective and quality antimicrobial use across Eastern Health. You will drive continuous improvement through data monitoring, audit, and reporting, contribute to policy and research, and champion best practice to strengthen AMS capability across the organisation.

About you

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications such as Master of Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Current and advanced hospital pharmacy experience, including effective clinical pharmacy skills

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
