  • Commencing 2nd February 2026

About the role

 

 

Eastern Health sites providing surgical services include:

 

 

  • Box Hill Hospital
  • Maroondah Hospital
  • Angliss Hospital
  • Blackburn Public Surgical Centre
  • Yarra Ranges Health
  • Healesville Hospital

 

 

Appointments are Eastern Health based. Regular session allocations are balanced between acute EH sites (e.g. Angliss and Box Hill Hospitals) and other EH sites.

 

 

Surgical Services currently provided at Eastern Health include Vascular, ENT, Thoracics, Upper GI and Hepatobiliary, Colorectal, Obstetrics, Gynaecology (including Gynaecological Oncology), Breast and Endocrine, Paediatric Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastics and Reconstructive.

 

 

About you 

 

 

Expected traits of a specialist anaesthetist at Eastern Health include:

 

 

  • Consistent demonstration of clinical competency.
  • Consistent attention to appropriate infection control practices.
  • High levels of professionalism and working relationships with all co-workers.
  • Punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Capacity to work across different hospital sites within Eastern Health.
  • Efficient work practices and optimisation of patient access to surgical services.
  • Appropriate supervision of all junior anaesthetic medical staff at all times.
  • Appropriate medical documentation.
  • Completion of non-clinical tasks as per individual interest and allocated by Clinical Directors of Anaesthesia, such as:
    • administrative tasks under assigned portfolio/s
    • medical education
    • clinical audit and research
    • clinical practice guideline development
  • Professional representation of the department and organisation, both internally within Eastern Health and externally in the broader healthcare system.
