Yarra Ranges Local Mental Health and Wellbeing Service

The Yarra Ranges Mental Health and Wellbeing Local in Lilydale offers free, voluntary, and easily accessible mental health support without the need for referrals.  These services provide safe, inclusive, and community-connected care for individuals aged 26 and over, including those with co-occurring alcohol and drug support needs. Working alongside Wellways, Access Health and Community, and Oonah, we are reimagining mental health and wellbeing through a "no wrong door" approach—focused on participant choice, empowerment, and support close to home. About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Mental Health Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team at the Yarra Ranges Mental Health and Wellbeing Local.   The Grade Two Social Worker, will provide services to people experiencing a range of mental health and wellbeing challenges. The role embodies Victoria’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Capability Framework’s commitment to a transformed system. You will empower participants on their recovery journey, working collaboratively within a strengths based, trauma informed and person centred framework. The Social Worker will work alongside the individual consumers and their carers with an individual plan designed to promote, foster and sustain personal recovery.  The Grade Two Social Worker will work as part of a multidisciplinary Local’s team of varying experience fostering a collaborative environment that prioritises participants’ needs and enhances service delivery. There will be a strong learning and development culture within the team with a focus on growth learning, reflective practice, supervision and self-care. The role will support participants at the main site in Lilydale, across smaller satellite sites across the region and via outreach in participants home and other community settings.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • A degree qualification in Social Work that has been approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for membership as a social worker. Maintains compliance with the AASW Continuing Professional Development Policy in order to meet the Eastern Health Allied Health Credentialling Standard.
  • A strong commitment of high quality, person centred care, that respects and upholds the human rights of individuals. 
  • Demonstrated experience integrating lived/living experience throughout various model of care, contributing to a culture that values and champions the insights, perspectives of the Lived Experience Workforce and participants.
  • Knowledge of the mental health sector, including roles and workings of mental health teams and relevant community resources and services to support people with mental illness.
  • Experience in delivering, recovery oriented mental health practice.
  • Ability to engage participants, families, carers and supporters in the development and implementation of individualised plans designed to promote, foster and sustain personal recovery.
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
