About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled and passionate occupational therapist with clinical experience working in hand therapy to join our occupational therapy team. We will consider both part-time and full-time applicants. The position is based at Box Hill Hospital and offers an opportunity to work with an experienced team of occupational therapists and apply excellent clinical skills in acute hand therapy within inpatient and outpatient settings.   The successful candidate will work closely with the plastics and orthopedic surgery teams.

Eastern Health’s Occupational Therapy Service is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based care for our patients, whilst supporting our staff to develop their clinical skills and advance their careers. 

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Experience working in hand therapy including the following skills: assessment, intervention, splint fabrication and discharge planning for patients
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the management of acute and chronic upper limb conditions and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills: both written and verbal
  • A strong commitment to high quality care 
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage a caseload, supervise junior therapists and contribute to service development.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

 

The successful applicant will demonstrate professionalism, clinical excellence and consistency of practice in hand therapy. We seek clinicians keen to learn and contribute to health outcomes through participation in quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities. Eastern Health supports professional development through supervision, mentoring and professional education.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
